Three-Legged Cat (Misfit Zoo)
(Written by Gary, Performed by Gary & Robert)
Dedicated to the keepers at Folsom Zoo Sanctuary...and to Aiko, the three-legged bobcat who came to the Sanctuary as an orphaned, and badly-injured, kitten in 1993.
.
Chainsaws and dozers, Leveled the land,
The trees were all cut, None left to stand
Now, I’m a misfit, with no place to go,
Seeking a brighter day, In this world of woe
Homeless, Abandoned, Orphaned, Too
Lookin’ for a place, In the Misfit Zoo
Cougars and bears, Once roamed free,
Bison, as far as the eye could see
Where do we go when it comes to an end?
Where do we go, When we don’t fit in?
A lot like me, and a lot like you,
We all belong in the Misfit Zoo
Red-tailed Hawk, Once ruled the sky,
Shot in the wing, And left to die
Unwanted, Unneeded, Barely alive,
One chance on earth, That he will survive
Crippled, Scarred, and Starving, too,
All have a place, At the Misfit Zoo
Three-legged Cat, Is on the prowl,
There’s a toothless squirrel, and a half-blind owl
Each has a song, Each has a dance;
Each has a story, Of a second chance
Adopted, Rescued, and Sheltered, Too
They found safe harbor at the Misfit Zoo
I’m just a misfit, Forever to roam,
No family, No friends, Haven’t got a home
‘Times I get weary, and lonely, too;
‘Times I don’t know if I can make it through
We all need someone, And I need you,
Can I have a place in your Misfit Zoo?
We all need someone, And I need you,
Would you open the door to your Misfit Zoo?
Would you open the door to your Misfit Zoo?
Would you open the door to your Mis---fit---Zoo?
